Bus staff are Strictly TV stars

Five Go North East employees are dusting the ballroom glitter off their high visibility vests after appearing on telly in front of 12 million viewers on Saturday night in the Strictly Come Dancing final.

A BBC film crew came to our Gateshead Riverside depot recently to record some sound bites of our staff talking about Strictly.

Claire Jones a driver at Riverside, Shaun McGough and Marie Murphy from Driver Training, Stephen King from Bensham and graduate Craig Mawson were delighted to see they had made the final edit of the nation’s most watched TV show on Saturday night.

The staff were filmed talking about their favourite celebrity dancers and judges and urging everyone to “keep dancing”.

Head of marketing and retail, Stephen King, said: “It caused a lot of excitement when we were asked to do it. The film crew were recording vox pops in Newcastle, Cardiff and Bristol so we didn’t know if our clips would make the show and we are delighted we did.”

Twelve million people watched as The Wanted singer Jay McGuiness won this year's Strictly Come Dancing.
