Get set for open top bus fun with the new NewcastleGateshead Toon Tour sightseeing bus from Go North East

Go North East, the region’s largest bus company, is launching its NewcastleGateshead Toon Tour open-top sightseeing bus service on Saturday 29 June ready for summer time.

The new hop-on hop-off city tour bus will run every weekend from Saturday 29 June until Saturday 20 July, and then run every day during the summer holidays.

Departing every 30 minutes between 10.05am and 4.05pm, buses start from Central Station in Newcastle, the Toon Tour will call at some of Newcastle and Gateshead’s finest sights and attractions, with commentary provided throughout the tour.

The Toon Tour will include stops at St James’ Park, Great North Museum, Quayside, Tyne Bridge, Baltic, Sage Gateshead, Grey’s Monument, Grey Street and Newcastle Cathedral.

A whole round journey on the open top tour will take just under an hour, though customers will be able to hop on and off at their leisure, with the Toon Tour calling at 18 stops around Newcastle and Gateshead.

Tickets can be bought in advance on the Go North East app, or on the day from the driver using contactless payment or cash. They will be priced at £8 for adults, £6 for concessions and students, £4 for children (up to the age of 16), and £20 for a family (up to 2 adults and 3 children).

Toon Tour tickets will be valid for 24 hours and can also be used on Quaylink buses in central Newcastle and Gateshead, so are an ideal way to get around the city from early until late as Quaylink buses run around the city right into the evening.

Discounts on Toon Tour tickets will be available for existing Go North East customers on production of their existing bus ticket when they board the Toon Tour, and there are also discounts at attractions available for Toon Tour customers.
