£1.6m investment in new buses for Durham Diamond
Over one million County Durham bus users are benefiting from a £1.6m upgrade that has brought them brand new buses with free wifi, USB connections and next-stop-announcements.
Go North East has invested £1.6m in buying ten new Wright Streetlite micro hybrid buses for its Durham Diamond 16 & 16A services.
The new buses have just hit the road.
The Durham Diamond runs early till late seven days per week, providing a regular 15-minute service between Durham and Stanley, and every 30 minutes to Consett.
The new high specification vehicles, as well as being more environmentally friendly, will ensure the service is more reliable, modern and comfortable.
The services provide key links for commuting, education, leisure and shopping for County Durham residents and connect into other services at Durham, Stanley and Consett.
Go North East managing director Kevin Carr said: “Our customers tell us that they appreciate having free wifi, next stop announcements, comfy seats and being able to charge their phone on the bus so we have invested in new vehicles to give them this.”
