Service changes from 18 March

From 18 March, there will be a small number of changes to the following services.


Coaster 1 & 1A

Most journeys are retimed to improve reliability.

There will also be some changes to the route of the service around Gateshead town centre:

  • Journeys towards Whitley Bay will now depart from stand H in Gateshead Interchange.
  • Journeys towards Wrekenton will no longer serve Jackson Street or High Street, instead running direct along High West Street and stopping outside Gateshead Civic Centre.
  • Journeys towards Whitley Bay will run from Durham Road into Gateshead Interchange direct along High West Street, stopping outside Gateshead Civic Centre, and then serve High Street instead of Prince Consort Road, stopping opposite Barclays Bank.

Blue Arrow 11

Most journeys are retimed to improve reliability.

There will also be some changes to the route of the service around Gateshead town centre:

  • Journeys towards Whitley Bay will now depart from stand H in Gateshead Interchange.
  • Journeys towards Whitley Bay will now run via High Street instead of Prince Consort Road, stopping opposite Barclays Bank.

Services 28 & 28A

  • At Gateshead Interchange towards Chester-le-Street, all journeys will now use stand C.
  • There are no other changes to the route or timetable of this service.


Red Kite 47

  • The Sunday morning journey which commences from Chopwell at 6.18am will now commence from Blackhall Mill, Mill Road at 6.14am.
  • There are no other changes to the route or timetable of this service.

Service 496

  • This service is paid for by Nexus. Nexus have advised that from 18 March, this service will no longer run, with alternative provision being made available on an extended Arriva service 552.

Services X9 & X10

  • The final two journeys on Sundays are retimed up to five minutes later.
  • There are no other changes to the route or timetable of this service.
