Go North East's free travel to three Northumberland beauty spots returns this summer
The Belsay and Wallington Express X75 bus is back for 2024, providing free and sustainable travel for all visitors to Belsay Hall and Wallington, supported by English Heritage and National Trust.
Go North East's X75 connects Newcastle City Centre with Belsay Hall, Bolam Lake and Wallington. The service will run every Saturday from 4 May until 7 September 2024, starting at Haymarket bus station in Newcastle city centre.
The bus is free to all visitors heading to Belsay Hall and Wallington as the service is running in partnership with English Heritage and the National Trust. Visitors to Wallington and Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens will also get a 20% discount on entry.
There are four departures per day on Saturdays this summer, with the first bus leaving Newcastle at 9:30am and the last returning from Wallington at 5pm.
Daniel Laird, Head of Commercial at Go North East, said: "We are thrilled to be working in partnership with English Heritage and National Trust to offer free travel to Belsay Hall and Wallington every Saturday. Passengers can hop on board at Newcastle Haymarket and take the Express X75, enjoying a 20% discount on entry tickets.’
Go North East operates several tourist routes around the North East, including the AD122 which takes in sites along Hadrian's Wall and was named one of the country’s most scenic bus routes.
Charlotte Woolley, Belsay Hall Cluster Manager at English Heritage, said: “It’s great that we’ve been able to partner up with Go North East and National Trust to run the X75 bus again this summer. The Belsay Awakes project is now completed and there is much more to see and do at Belsay Hall. Visitors who travel on the Belsay and Wallington Express get a 20% discount on entry. Now is a great time to visit Belsay!”.
Sarah Wilkinson, Programming & Partnerships Manager, Wallington, added: “For the third consecutive year the National Trust is working in partnership with English Heritage to offer a fully funded Saturday bus service to access Wallington and Belsay. The X75 service will operate every Saturday, four times a day in each direction from Newcastle Haymarket, from 4 May until 7 September 2024. This is a free bus service for visitors to Wallington or Belsay, with an additional 20% reduction on ticket price entry for non-members. We are again delighted to be offering a car-free alternative for visitors to be able to enjoy these spectacular places in a more sustainable way.”
